FlashAir – World’s first memory card with wireless WAN connectivity


Earlier this week, Toshiba unveiled world’s very first Secure Digital High-capacity memory card gadget and what makes it unique is the fact that it is embedded with wireless LAN functionality.

The card has been named “FlashAir” will be shipped to Japanese stores in the month of November while it will be available for purchase in February 2012. This latest memory card is compatible with peer-to-peer technology and transfers and with respect to storage space; it has in-built storage capacity of 8 gigabytes.

In a conference, the company said that today, users want a quick and easy way to share photos with their loved ones and also, want to transfer them to and from online storage services as well as social networks. The new card is available at the IFA 2011 electronics meet going on in Berlin for coming 6 days and that will be available to the consumers by coming Friday. The icing on the cake is; all your transfers are going to be wireless which means you would not need a cable connection ever. Talking about the other technical specifications, the new card measures 32mm by 24mm in size and is very sleek, that is 2.1mm thick.
